BUFFALO, NY—Junior Kala Crawford (Middle Falls/Saratoga Springs) netted a career-best 18 points and added six steals to lead Buffalo State (8-7/4-4) to an 81-55 victory over Fredonia (8-6/3-5) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) added 17 points, and Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) scored 10 for Buffalo State. Kelly Kell (Pt. Ewen/Kingston) chipped in eight points and had eight assists.
Jamie Warren (Lakeview/Frontier) led Fredonia with 19 points and seven rebounds. Becky Hebert (Hilton/Hilton) was the only other Blue Devil in double-figures, scoring 11 points.
Buffalo State started fast, hitting its first five field goal attempts and took an early lead it would never relinquish. The Bengals led 44-33 at the intermission and continued to pull away in the second half.
The Bengals shot 50-percent from the field for the game, compared to 39-percent shooting by Fredonia. Buffalo State also held a 38-30 rebounding advantage, and committed just 15 turnovers, compared to 24 by Fredonia.
Buffalo State will next visit Brockport on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
